Privacy Policy

Braino is a browser extension and web service. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

1. What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to make Braino work. Here's the full list:

Account data — your email address and a hashed password when you create an account. If you sign in via Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Conversation history — messages you send to Braino and the responses it gives. These are stored server-side so your history persists across devices.

Page context — when you ask Braino about a page, the text content of that page is sent to our AI model to generate a response. This is processed transiently and not stored long-term.

Audio recordings — if you use the recording feature, audio is transcribed and the resulting text (not the raw audio) is stored in your account.

Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated data about feature usage (e.g., "20 users used voice mode today"). We do not collect individual click streams.

Browser extension metadata — extension version, browser type. No browsing history, no tabs list, no URL logging beyond what you explicitly share with Braino in a conversation.

2. What we do not collect

Your browsing history or list of visited URLs

Content of pages you visit unless you explicitly ask Braino about them

Keystrokes, form inputs, or passwords

Precise location data

Financial or payment card details (payments are handled by Stripe)

3. How we use your data

To provide the service — generating AI responses, maintaining your conversation history, syncing across devices.

To improve the product — understanding which features are used, diagnosing bugs. We may review anonymized conversation samples to improve response quality, but only in aggregate and only with identifying information stripped.

To communicate with you — sending product updates, security notices, and responses to support requests. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.

To enforce our Terms — detecting abuse, spam, or policy violations.

4. Third-party services

Braino uses the following third-party processors. Each is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements:

Anthropic / Claude API — AI responses are generated by Claude. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic does not use API data to train models by default. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

Supabase — database, authentication, and storage hosting. Data is stored in secure, encrypted databases.

Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. We never see or store your card number.

Fish Audio — text-to-speech generation for Braino's voice. Text snippets are sent to Fish Audio's API.

We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers. Ever.

5. Data retention

We keep your conversation history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. You can request deletion of specific conversations from your account settings at any time.

Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely because it cannot be linked back to you.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.

Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.

Deletion — request that we delete your account and all associated data.

Portability — request your conversation history in a machine-readable format.

Objection — object to processing of your data for certain purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at talk2braino@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

7. Children

Braino is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access to user data is restricted to engineers who require it for their work, and all access is logged. We conduct regular security reviews.

No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please report it responsibly to talk2braino@gmail.com.

9. Cookies

The Braino website uses session cookies for authentication. We use no third-party tracking cookies. We do not run retargeting ads.

The browser extension does not set or read cookies from third-party websites.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll notify you via email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
